How estimated maxes and effort labels shape the rankings
The table ranks lifters by their estimated one-rep max. For a single, the max is the load on the bar. For a multi-rep set, the ranking uses an estimated one-rep max from the weight and repetitions, so a set of many reps can rank above a heavier single.
Effort labels also separate training sets and personal claims from measured results. “Working set” marks come from training sets, and “Effort unknown” marks do not state the effort. “Competition” and “Official test” marks are measured results from powerlifting meets, the NFL Scouting Combine, or college pro days.
At rank 1, celebrity chef and Army veteran Andre Rush holds the highest number in the table at 700 lb (318 kg). Rush, a White House event chef and host of Kitchen Commando, stated the 700 lb load as a personal claim. The lift date, rep count, and equipment details are unstated, and his mark carries an “Effort unknown” label.
High-rep sets push several lifters up the rankings through their estimated maxes. Alan Ritchson, star of Reacher and Blue Mountain State, sits at rank 13 from a working set of 355 lb (161 kg) for 6 reps. Ritchson stopped the set while training alone and said the weight was below his maximum. That working set of 355 lb for 6 reps gives an estimated max of at least about 426 lb, ranking him above heavier marks with no stated rep count of 420 lb (191 kg) and 415 lb (188 kg).
Measured lifts from combines and powerlifting meets
Across the 40 entries shown, 2 marks come from a “Competition” and 3 come from an “Official test” at the NFL Scouting Combine or a college pro day. All 3 official tests belong to former college football players who pressed 225 lb (102 kg) for reps before entering politics or reality television.
Jon Runyan, a former NFL offensive tackle who later served as a U.S. Representative from New Jersey from 2011 to 2015, completed 225 lb (102 kg) for 25 reps in an official test at the 1996 NFL Scouting Combine. Runyan was a 22-year-old Michigan offensive tackle weighing 308 lb before the 1996 draft. His 225 lb set for 25 reps gives an estimated max of 365 lb at rank 31.
Markwayne Mullin, U.S. homeland security secretary and former U.S. senator from Oklahoma, logged his mark in a powerlifting meet. At the 2020 USPA Iron Office Open in Clovis, California, Mullin competed in the Raw Masters 40-44 division in the 82.5 kg class at age 43 and an 80.9 kg bodyweight. He pressed 152.5 kg (336 lb) on attempt 3 for a measured competition result at rank 40.
A streaming creator also appears in the competition results. League of Legends Twitch streamer Tyler1 hit a 415 lb (188 kg) competition bench press in 2021 at the Inaugural Twitch Rivals: loltyler1 Power Meet, a creator powerlifting exhibition, placing him at rank 16.
Film prep and residency workouts
Outside of football tests and meets, the list spans lawmakers, rappers, former bodybuilders, actors preparing for film roles, and musicians.
Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen holds rank 27 with a 380 lb (172 kg) bench press at a 155 lb bodyweight, the lightest recorded bodyweight in the table. Collen stated the 380 lb lift and his 155 lb bodyweight together. The lift comes from training during the band’s 2013 Viva Hysteria Las Vegas residency, with repetitions and effort unknown.
For actors, a benchmark lift can trace back to preparing for a film role. Christopher Reeve reached 350 lb (159 kg) while training for the first Superman film, a mark listed as a Max or PR at rank 36.

Each person appears once, with the same best record as their page: for a lift, the highest estimated one-rep max; otherwise the most reps or the fastest time. "Working set" and "Effort unknown" marks are training numbers, so the person's true best may be higher. How the data is collected.
