Celebrity 5K Times: The Fastest Runs by Famous Non-Athletes
Across the 45 famous non-athletes with 5K records in the data, the top 30 marks run from 14:22.09 to 25:00. The ranking includes politicians, musicians, executives, actors, television hosts and YouTubers.
Jacob Frey, Mayor of Minneapolis since 2018 and a former professional marathon runner, holds #1 with a 14:22.09 competition mark from 2004 at age 22. He ran the 5,000 m indoor track race for William & Mary at the IC4A Indoor Championships in Allston, recorded on a William & Mary 2003–04 indoor individual top marks sheet and by World Athletics.
Collegiate and youth marks
Two marks in the table come from college and high-school cross-country meets. At #2, YouTuber Ryan Trahan ran 15:27.40 in 2017 at age 18. A Texas A&M race report records his third-place competition finish over 5,000m as a Texas A&M freshman at the 2017 Aggieland Open cross-country meet.
At #14, singer and songwriter Chappell Roan appears with a youth competition mark from 2012. Racing as a Willard High School freshman as Kayleigh Amstutz at age 13–14, she ran 20:06.96 at a 2012 Missouri high-school cross-country sectional meet, reported with linked Milesplit results.
How the times are known
Most marks in the table are competition finishes. Their sources include official race results, NYRR official runner race histories, school and university records, media race reports, a magazine interview and an MP’s own website; some are parkrun events. Other marks come from self-reported runs or media and trainer reports. Entries marked effort unknown are not confirmed personal maxes.
At #4, author Sahil Bloom stated a 17:52 personal-best 5K run in a 2023 LinkedIn post, with timing and distance measurement methods unstated. At #21, comedian and actor Kevin Hart has a 21:54 from a 2015 Nike+ Run Club pop-up 5K on the Chicago lakefront at age 36. A runner who attended reported the time on A Sweat Life. The event was an untimed fan run, so the effort is unknown. At #30, Indian playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan has a 25:00 mark with effort unknown, reported by Aaj Tak in 2024 from her trainer Viraj Sarmalkar, who said she once ran 5 kilometres in 25 minutes. The source gives no run date, race or timing method.
Politicians and executives in official races
At #3, former T-Mobile US and Global Crossing chief executive John Legere ran an official 17:30 competition finish at age 53 in 2012 at Coogan’s Salsa, Blues and Shamrocks 5K, recorded in his NYRR official runner race history. Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg (#10) ran an official 19:34 competition mark at age 38 at the Stanford Medicine My Heart Counts 5K 2023, placing 11th of 885; InsideHook reported the time, Canadian Running cited the raceroster.com results, and his Garmin showed 19:34.8.
Justin Trudeau (#22), then the sitting Prime Minister of Canada, ran a 22:37.40 chip time (23:08.4 gun time) at age 45 in the 2017 Canada Army Run 5K in Ottawa, reported by Canadian Running Magazine from Sportstats results.
Musicians, actors and hosts across ages
McFly drummer Harry Judd (#5) ran a 17:58 personal best at age 40 at Battersea parkrun in London in 2026 while paced by Hugo Fry, reported by Runner’s World UK. Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker (#16) ran a 20:27 competition mark at age 48–49 in 2024 at the Run Travis Run 5K in Queens, reported by Runner’s World.
Two competition marks come from the Chilmark Road Race: actor Jake Gyllenhaal (#11) ran 19:38 at age 26 in 2007, recorded in the official result archive, and host Seth Meyers (#24) ran 23:16.74 at age 52 in 2026, reported by Runner’s World.
Readers can compare their own 5K number with these records on the person pages.
Each person appears once, with the same best record as their page: for a lift, the highest estimated one-rep max; otherwise the most reps or the fastest time. "Working set" and "Effort unknown" marks are training numbers, so the person's true best may be higher. How the data is collected.
