The Fastest Celebrity Marathon Times, Ranked
Out of 604 people in the data for this ranking, the 30 fastest marathon runners all finished under three hours. The times run from 2:16:44 at rank 1 to 2:59:13 at rank 30, spanning a mayor, comedians, lawmakers, television journalists and personalities, authors, chefs, actors, and musicians.
Every mark in the top 30 carries a Competition effort label, so all 30 performances come from races. Across the table, race years stretch from the 1947 AAA marathon championship, where rank 11 finished in 2:46:03, to 2026 marathons in Seville, Tokyo, and Annecy.
A former pro and comedians at the front of the pack
Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey holds rank 1 with a 2:16:44 personal best. Before taking office as mayor in 2018, Frey was a professional distance runner for Team USA. At age 26, he ran his mark at the 2007 Pan American Games men’s marathon in Rio de Janeiro, finishing in 4th place.
Comedians also sit near the top of the leaderboard. Japanese comedian Neko Hiroshi, who ran the Olympic marathon for Cambodia, takes rank 3 with a 2:27:02 at the 2023 Tokyo Marathon. Running at age 45, he covered the course in 8822 seconds to set a personal best and lower his prior 2:27:48 mark.
Fast marathon times appear across a wide range of ages in the data. Runners on this sub-3-hour list logged their competition marks at ages 26, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 37, 38, 40, 42, 44, and 45.
Politicians and major city marathon courses
Major city races fill much of the table. New York City appears five times, Tokyo four times, and London, Berlin and Boston twice each. These appear alongside races in Rio de Janeiro, Seville, Malta, Sydney, Valencia, Glasgow, Tucson, Erie, Annecy, and Disney World.
Sitting members of parliament have posted fast times on those major courses. Journalist and former Conservative MP Matthew Parris holds rank 6 with a 2:32:57 at the 1985 London Marathon. Parris ran his fifth London at age 35, and The Guardian lists his time as the fastest marathon by a sitting MP.
Australian Labor MP for Fenner, Assistant Minister, and economist Andrew Leigh sits at rank 8 with a 2:42:48 marathon personal best from the 2017 Tokyo Marathon at age 44. Leigh has also completed all six World Marathon Majors under three hours.
Sub-3 breakthroughs, pacers, and official net times
Several runners in the table broke three hours in their first or second marathon. French television journalist and environmental documentary presenter Hugo Clément ran 2:52:55 in his first marathon at the 2026 Marathon du Lac d’Annecy, taking rank 17. He was paced from km 0 to km 29 and finished 86th of 5,530 starters.
Singer Harry Styles, known for One Direction and As It Was, broke three hours in his second marathon. Entered in the 2025 Berlin Marathon under the pseudonym Sted Sarandos, Styles ran 2:59:13 at age 31 to land at rank 30.
Author Sahil Bloom, writer of The 5 Types of Wealth and The Curiosity Chronicle, also reached the table in his second marathon, taking rank 19 with a 2:53:39 at the 2024 Erie Marathon. Bloom gave 2:53:38 in his own account of the race, and the ranking uses his official net time of 2:53:39, which is one second slower.
YouTuber and filmmaker Casey Neistat chased a sub-3-hour marathon through many failed attempts before breaking through at age 42. Running with a coach at the 2023 Tucson Marathon, Neistat clocked 2:57:34 for his first sub-3-hour marathon and rank 25 on the list.

Each person appears once, with the same best record as their page: for a lift, the highest estimated one-rep max; otherwise the most reps or the fastest time. "Working set" and "Effort unknown" marks are training numbers, so the person's true best may be higher. How the data is collected.
